Hump Day Hint: Runners, Celebrate National Men’s Health Week

OProtect your reputation. If you doubt that you can get through a day without symptoms messing things up, stay at home, even if it means a day without pay. To go to work could mean you lose your job.

Healthy living is buckling up whenever you are in a vehicle. Using seat belts have saved 75,000 lives during a four year period. If you ride a motorcycle or a bike by all means wear a helmet. The NHTSA claims that helmets saved 1,829 motorcyclists in the year 2008. Make sure you wear a helmet if you roller skate, ice skate, do off road ATV riding or go snowmobiling.

Fats, or lipids, have gotten a bad rap. They are blamed for everything from bulging bathing suits to life-threatening heart attacks. However fat can be used as energy by the body when glycogen (stored glucose) is depleted, or in the absence of carbohydrates. We can’t live without fat in our diets. But because fat supplies twice as many calories as do protein and carbohydrates, eating too much fat packs on the pounds.

Are there documents out in the open? Computers left unlocked? Are patient folders left accessible to non-essential staff? What’s going out in the trash? Where are unused computers left? Offices are busy places, and often we fail to think about these items for more than a minute, but what if it was your file?

I felt really good this morning and I was pretty calm. I gave Kage his antibiotic this morning – which was a fight. He kicked and screamed and fought and part of the medicine ended upon on him, not in him. And i didn’t lose my cool! It was amazing. I didn’t get mad. I didn’t yell at him. I felt completely in control.

Two days ago I swore I would not set myself up for a fall by fighting with him about a nap. And what did I do? I tried to force him to take a nap. He fought, Mia cried, and i blew my top. I began throwing things – the box of diaper wipes, Kage’s little TV tray, the plastic measured cup Kage has been carrying around, a Styrofoam cup – anything to keep me from losing my temper on my kids.

It may give you some small comfort, but you’re not alone as you toss and turn: the U.S. Department of health and human services in 2007 reported that about 64 million Americans experience insomnia each year.

These meetings are not designed to place blame or accuse anyone of wrong doing, but rather to gather input on what security looks like from your staffs eyes, whether its 2 people or 20 all input is good. Develop an idea of what’s going well and what needs your attention. Create the framework of what you would like your system to look like.
